01The brief
Beekon Light is a $149 pixel light for bedrooms, desks and blanket forts — one-time purchase, free shipping, no subscriptions. The site needed to delight a seven-year-old and reassure the parent holding the card, with honest stubs for checkout and newsletter that the client wires to their own tools.
02What I built
A playful static site with an LED marquee, a field of floating pixels that dodge the cursor (and hold still under reduced-motion), product and FAQ pages, and a newsletter addressed to grown-ups only. Then the Studio: a 64×32 drawing board with draw, erase, fill, 16 stickers, a 3×5 pixel font, mirror, rainbow and custom colors, undo, pinch-zoom and a sketchbook — saving a 1024×512 PNG with the design embedded in the same shape the Beekon Canvas editor uses, so a drawing round-trips to the real light.
03Outcome
The September baseline on the old app found 23 problems, five of them critical. The rebuilt site went live on 24 September 2026 and crawls at a single finding; the Studio round followed in October. Every release runs 71 real-input browser checks — including proofs that deliberately plant a bug to make sure each check can fail — before it ships as a hash-named zip.
